Our Story
OAR Wellness was founded by people who spent decades working in the recovery industry and saw what was missing. Too many programs focus on short-term fixes. Clients would complete 30 days and leave without the skills, routines, or support systems needed to sustain recovery. Families were left confused. Relapses were treated as failures rather than part of the process.
We built OAR Wellness to do things differently.
After years in the field watching what worked, what did not, and what was consistently overlooked, our founding team brought together experienced clinicians and addiction specialists who shared a commitment to lasting recovery. Together, we created a program that addresses the gaps other centres ignore: life skills, discharge planning, family involvement, and honest expectations about the road ahead.
What We Believe
Honesty builds trust. We do not overpromise. We are transparent about what we treat, what we do not, and what recovery actually requires. If we are not the right fit, we will tell you and help you find a program that is.
Recovery is a journey, not a destination. We tell every client that recovery is a long-term process, not a 30-day program. Our role is to be the starting gate, to provide the foundation you need to build a life that lasts.
Mental health and addiction are connected. Anxiety fuels drinking. Depression follows the crash. Trauma sits underneath substance use. We treat both together because addressing one without the other rarely works.
Life skills matter as much as therapy. Sleep, nutrition, routines, relationships, and work functioning are the basics that fall apart during addiction and need to be rebuilt. Our program integrates life skills into everything we do.
"We don't promise perfection. We focus on what's real, what's possible, and what will actually help you thrive in your life."
Our Team
Our clinical team brings close to 70 years of combined addiction and mental health expertise. Every clinician holds graduate-level credentials and specialized training in evidence-based therapies, including CBT, DBT, CPT, EMDR, IFS and trauma-focused modalities.
But credentials are only part of the story. Our team has spent years in the field, working with clients, learning what actually moves the needle, and refining an approach that prioritizes long-term outcomes over short-term metrics.
Our Approach
We provide trauma and mental health-informed inpatient treatment for adults dealing with substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, and related challenges. Our facility is located about an hour from Toronto in a quiet, private setting designed to support focused healing.
Every client receives a personalized treatment plan, opportunities for family involvement, and a comprehensive discharge plan that supports their long-term recovery. We also offer virtual care for individuals and families to help maintain progress after discharge.
