Private Alcohol Rehab in Ontario for Long-Term Recovery

OAR Wellness is a private, trauma and mental health-informed alcohol addiction treatment program in Ontario, about an hour from Toronto. We work with adults whose drinking is affecting their work, relationships, and health, and who are ready for structured, honest support. Our goal is to prepare you for what comes next.

From the start, we are thinking about life after treatment and how to support a long-term recovery journey, not a quick fix. We see ourselves as the starting gate of a years-long process, providing you with the foundation you need to build a lasting life in recovery.

Signs Your Drinking Needs Attention

You don’t have to hit “rock bottom” before you get help. It’s enough to notice that alcohol addiction is taking more than it’s giving.

Common signs your drinking deserves a closer look include:

  • You have a strong compulsion or craving to drink

  • You need to drink more than you used to in order to get the same effect

  • You experience withdrawal symptoms such as shaking, sweating, or nausea when you stop or cut down

  • You continue drinking despite knowing it is causing physical or psychological harm

  • You spend a lot of time obtaining alcohol, drinking, or recovering from its effects

  • Drinking has begun to interfere with your responsibilities at work, school, or home

  • You have given up or reduced important social, occupational, or recreational activities because of drinking

  • You drink in situations where it is physically dangerous, such as before driving

If any of this sounds familiar, it’s a valid time to talk to someone. You don’t have to wait for a crisis.

Why Choose OAR Wellness for Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Many of the people who come to us have tried to manage their drinking alone or have been through other programs. We take a different approach.

Forward-looking care

We plan for life after treatment, not just the weeks you are here.

A private, contained environment near Toronto

Quiet, secluded, removed from triggers that make sobriety harder.

Trauma and mental health-informed, integrated treatment

We treat addiction and mental health as connected, not separate issues.

Life skills at the core

Sleep, routines, work functioning, organization, and relationships are built into programming.

Honest expectations

We discuss recovery as a multi-year process, not a quick fix.

Early discharge planning

From the start, we are thinking about your real world: work, family, and community.

If we do not believe we are the right fit for your needs, we will make that referral and help ensure you get the help you need.

How Our Inpatient Addiction Treatment Program Works

Recovery at OAR Wellness follows a clear, structured path from first call to aftercare.

Comprehensive Assessment & Fit

We look at your alcohol use, mental health, medical history, and support system to understand who you are and what you are going through, and confirm that OAR Wellness is the right clinical fit before anyone commits.

Inpatient Program

You follow a daily schedule that combines individual therapy, group work, skills practice, and rest, using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused therapies.

Life Skills & Daily Functioning

Alongside therapy, you work on developing sleep habits, routines, time management skills, responsibilities, and relationships, so that you can function effectively in real life, not just within a program.

Aftercare Plan

Early in your stay, we start building a written discharge and relapse-prevention plan so you are not leaving without a map.

Alcohol, Mental Health, and Trauma

For many people, alcohol addiction is tied to more than habit. Anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and burnout often sit in the background.

At OAR Wellness, we:

  • Assess and treat alcohol use and mental health together, so no one avoids or postpones care
  • Use trauma and mental health-informed approaches when past experiences are part of the picture
  • Pay close attention to changes in mood, sleep, and the nervous system as your body heals
  • Coordinate with outside providers or prescribers when needed, so care is coherent rather than fragmented

Support for Families and Life After Treatment

Alcohol use affects more than one person. Families, partners, and close friends often carry worry, frustration, and a multitude of questions.

At OAR Wellness, we offer:

  • Education on alcohol use, recovery timelines, and what to expect at home.
  • Structured family involvement, with options for virtual participation when in-person visits are not possible or preferred.
  • An aftercare plan tailored to your alcohol triggers, work events, travel, social situations, and stress.
  • Check-ins or groups after discharge can help maintain structure.
  • A clear, non-shaming plan for what to do if a slip happens.
  • Set boundaries without abandoning: How to support recovery without enabling use, how to protect your own well-being while staying connected.
  • Participate in structured sessions: Weekly family meetings (virtual or in-person), education on post-discharge risks, and help navigating what comes next.

Recovery is more sustainable when the people around you understand the process  are engaged in the process and have a role that does not burn them out.
