It means we recognize that addiction and mental health are connected, and that past experiences shape present behaviour. Our approach prioritizes safety, respect, and evidence-based treatment that addresses the whole person.
Trauma and Mental Health Informed Care
Being trauma and mental health-informed means understanding that every client brings a unique story, and that healing can only occur in a space of safety and respect.
At OAR Wellness, we use evidence-based modalities to address underlying trauma and behaviour patterns:

These therapies are combined with peer-supported frameworks like SMART Recovery, empowering clients to take ownership of their healing. Our clinical team approaches every treatment plan with empathy and accountability, avoiding quick fixes or false promises.
Life Skills & Whole-Person Care
Recovery is not just about therapy. It is about learning to function again.
We integrate life skills into programming because they are what fall apart during active addiction and what need rebuilding for life after treatment. Alongside clinical work, clients engage in yoga, guided meditation, and physical fitness sessions designed to restore the connection between body and mind.
- Sleep hygiene and daily routines
- Nutrition and healthy eating habits
- Fitness and physical activity
- Mindfulness and stress management
- Communication and boundary-setting
- Time management and organization
This integrated approach ensures that clients leave OAR Wellness not only equipped for sobriety but also for sustainable daily functioning.
Personalized, Structured Care
Every journey begins with a comprehensive assessment. Our extensive admission process allows us to get to know you better, understanding your mental health, medical history, substance use, and personal goals.
From there, our team builds a customized care plan that fits within a clear, structured framework. We believe that boundaries foster safety and that safety enables progress. While our care is highly individualized, it operates within evidence-based guardrails that prevent regression and build stability.
Our Clinical Team
Our clinical team brings close to 70 years of combined addiction and mental health expertise. Every clinician holds graduate-level credentials (master's or higher) and specialized training in CBT, DBT, CPT, and EMDR.
Our team has spent years working directly with clients, learning what actually supports long-term recovery, and building an approach that prioritizes outcomes over short-term metrics.
Inpatient Treatment in Ontario
OAR Wellness provides inpatient treatment in a peaceful, private setting about an hour from Toronto.
Our residential program offers:
- Daily structure and consistent routine
- 24/7 support and community engagement
- Removal from triggers and high-risk environments
- Focused time for therapy, skill-building, and rest
Inpatient care allows clients to step away from their everyday environment and focus fully on recovery without the distractions and pressures of daily life.
What We Do Not Offer
We're transparent about our scope of practice:
- No detox services: If withdrawal management is needed, we coordinate referrals to appropriate medical facilities and plan your admission once you are medically stable
- No psychedelics or experimental treatments
We do not treat eating disorders, psychosis, or sexual behaviour disorders onsite. When a client's needs require specialized care, we coordinate referrals to trusted providers.
If we believe there is a program that would be a better fit for your needs, we will make that referral and help ensure you get the help you need.
Recovery Is a Journey
We are honest about what recovery requires. This is not a 30-day fix. Our role is to be the starting gate, providing the foundation you need to build a life that lasts. We prepare you for life after treatment from day one, with discharge planning that begins early in your stay.
