About OAR Wellness

Q: What is OAR Wellness?

OAR Wellness is a private, trauma and mental health-informed addiction and mental health treatment centre in Ontario, about an hour from Toronto. We provide inpatient treatment for adults dealing with substance use, anxiety, depression, trauma, and related challenges.

Q: What makes you different from other treatment centres?

We focus on life after treatment, not just the weeks you're here. Our team brings nearly 70 years of combined expertise and graduate-level credentials. We discuss recovery as a 2-3 year journey and emphasize life skills, discharge planning, and realistic expectations. If we're not the right fit, we'll help you find a program that is.

Programs & Treatment

Q: What do you treat?

We treat alcohol, opioid, cocaine, and cannabis addiction, as well as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, and burnout. We specialize in co-occurring disorders when addiction and mental health challenges occur together.

Q: What do you NOT treat?

We do not treat eating disorders, psychosis, or sexual behaviour disorders. When these needs arise, we coordinate referrals to specialized providers.

Q: Do you provide detox?

No. If detox is needed, we coordinate referrals to appropriate medical facilities and plan your admission once you're stable.

Q: What therapies do you use?

Our clinical team uses CBT, DBT, CPT, EMDR, and trauma-focused therapies, along with holistic supports like yoga, mindfulness, nutrition coaching, and life skills training.

Q: How long is the usual treatment timeline?

Inpatient stays typically range from 30-90 days. However, recovery is a 2-3 year journey; our program is the starting gate, followed by aftercare support.

Admissions

Q: How do I get started?

Contact our admissions team for a confidential consultation. We'll discuss your situation, answer questions, and determine if our program is the right fit.

Q: What's the admissions process?

Initial consultation, pre-intake assessment, clinical fit determination, then admission planning. Our process allows us to get to know you better before you arrive.

Cost & Insurance

Q: How much does treatment cost?

OAR Wellness is a private, fee-for-service program. Contact admissions for current pricing.

Q: Does OHIP cover treatment?

OHIP does not typically cover private residential treatment. Some extended health benefits or employer plans may reimburse portions of care. We provide detailed receipts and can help you review what may be eligible.

Q: Do you offer payment options?

We offer flexible private-pay options. We also have community beds for those who can't afford full fees. Contact admissions to discuss your situation.

Family Involvement

Q: How can family be involved?

Family participates weekly with 12 hours per month of programming, including education, communication strategies, and recovery support.

Q: Do you offer interventions?

Yes. If someone you care about is resistant to treatment, contact us to discuss options.

What to Expect

Q: What does a typical day look like?

Individual therapy, group sessions, mindfulness practice, skills training, meals, and time for rest. We balance structure with space to process.

Q: What happens after I leave?

We create a discharge plan with relapse-prevention strategies, community support connections, therapy referrals, and a pathway back to intensive care if needed.
