Therapies & Treatment Modalities

OAR Wellness blends proven psychotherapies with holistic supports to stabilize mood, improve sleep, and build resilience. Treatment plans are personalized and reviewed regularly by your clinical team.

CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Short, skills-based therapy that helps you identify thought patterns, challenge distortions, and practice practical behaviours that reduce anxiety and depression.

DBT - Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Teaches emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

CPT - Cognitive Processing Therapy

A structured approach for trauma-related symptoms that helps reframe stuck points and reduce shame, avoidance, and hypervigilance.

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

Uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories, reducing emotional intensity and physiological reactivity.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Evidence-informed practices (breathwork, grounding, body scans) that calm the nervous system and improve focus, sleep, and self-awareness.

Individual & Group Therapy

Weekly 1:1 sessions with a licensed clinician or facilitated groups that build skills and accountability in a safe setting.

Art Therapy & Creative Expression

Guided creative modalities that support emotional processing and self-expression when words are hard to find.

Yoga & Gentle Movement

Trauma-sensitive sessions that improve sleep, reduce muscle tension, and restore mind-body connection.

Nutrition Support

Practical coaching to stabilize energy, support mood, and rebuild healthy routines around meals and hydration.

What to Expect During Therapy

Your experience begins with a confidential pre-intake assessment to understand your history, current symptoms, and goals. From there, our team develops a personalized plan that blends therapy, wellness routines, and skill-building.

A typical day includes individual therapy, group sessions, mindfulness practice, and time for rest, journaling, or outdoor walks. We do not believe in filling every minute. Space to process is part of the healing.

Family involvement is included when helpful and clinically appropriate. As you progress, your team will collaborate on step-down planning and aftercare to support a smooth transition back to daily life.

Trauma-Informed & Holistic Approach

Trauma can shape how we think, feel, and relate to others. At OAR Wellness, trauma-informed care means creating an environment of safety, trust, and collaboration so clients can move at a pace that feels secure. We focus on nervous-system stabilization, emotional regulation, and practical skills that reduce overwhelm and build resilience.

This is not about reliving painful experiences before you are ready. It is about building the capacity to process them safely when the time is right.

Holistic supports, including meditation, gentle movement, creative expression, and nature-based activities, are integrated to restore balance across mind and body.

Co-Occurring Disorders & Integrated Care

Many clients experience mental health challenges alongside substance use. Anxiety fuels drinking. Depression follows the crash after cocaine. Trauma sits underneath opioid dependence. Treating one without the other rarely works.

Our integrated model treats both, coordinating care between mental health clinicians and addiction specialists. We align therapeutic goals, reinforce consistent routines, and teach skills for managing triggers across both domains.

Aftercare & Continued Support

Healing continues after discharge. OAR Wellness provides personalized aftercare plans that may include alumni groups, community mental health partnerships, and referrals to outpatient providers.

  • Check-ins with your clinical team
  • Alumni support groups
  • Referrals to outpatient therapists and psychiatrists
  • Wellness plan for sleep, nutrition, movement, and mindfulness
  • Family support resources
  • Clear pathway back to more intensive care if needed

Support for Families

Mental health challenges affect the whole family. Partners, parents, and loved ones often feel confused, exhausted, or unsure how to help without making things worse.

At OAR Wellness, family participates weekly and follows the guidance of our professional team. We offer 12 hours per month of family programming tailored to support your role, including education on mental health conditions, communication strategies, boundary-setting, and what to expect during recovery.

Family involvement is not mandatory, but it is suggested with client consent. We help families understand the process, manage their own well-being, and build a support system that does not burn out.

Admissions & Insurance

Getting started is confidential and straightforward. OAR Wellness offers flexible private-pay options and accepts some insurance plans. Our admissions team will answer questions about clinical fit, availability, and costs, then guide you through a simple intake process.

For continuity and structure, most new clients are onboarded on Mondays. If a different start date is clinically appropriate, we will work with you to coordinate a plan that feels supportive and manageable.

What to expect:

  1. Initial consultation - Confidential call to discuss your situation and goals, typically scheduled within 5 days of your inquiry.
  2. Pre-intake assessment - Detailed review of history, symptoms, and support needs. Clients must complete detox before our program.
  3. Clinical fit determination - Once your initial consultation and detox are complete, our team will determine whether our program is the right fit for your needs.
  4. Admission planning - Assuming you are a good fit for the program, our team will coordinate your start date, logistics, and arrival preparations.
