Private Addiction Treatment in Ontario for Long-Term Recovery

OAR Wellness is a private, trauma and mental health-informed addiction treatment centre in Ontario, about an hour from Toronto. We work with adults whose substance use is affecting their work, family, and health, and who are ready for structured residential support. Our goal is not just to get through a program; it is to prepare you for what comes next in addiction and mental health recovery.

From the start, we are thinking about life after treatment and how to support long-term recovery journey, not a quick fix.

Why Choose OAR Wellness for Addiction Treatment

We have heard from many people who came to us after other programs did not work for them. At OAR Wellness, you can expect a different approach.

Forward-looking care

We plan for life after treatment from day one, helping you develop daily routines, emotional tools, and coping strategies for long-term recovery.

Private, focused setting near Toronto

Quiet, secluded, and removed from everyday triggers.

Trauma and mental health-informed care

We address addiction and mental health support together, and recognize how they interact.

Life skills at the core

Sleep, routines, work functioning, organization, and relationships are built into programming.

Honest expectations

We discuss recovery as a long-term journey, not a quick fix. If there is a better fit for your needs, we will make that referral and help ensure you get the help you need.

How Our Inpatient Addiction Treatment Program Works

Comprehensive Assessment & Fit

Our extensive admission process allows us to get to know you better before you arrive, understanding your substance use, mental health, medical history, and support system.

Inpatient Program

You follow a daily schedule combining individual therapy, group work, skills practice, and rest, using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused therapies.

Life Skills & Daily Functioning

Alongside therapy programs, you work on developing structure in areas such as sleep, nutrition, time management, responsibilities, and relationships.

Aftercare Plan

Early in your stay, we begin building a written discharge and relapse-prevention plan connecting you to local recovery groups and external providers.

OAR Wellness does not provide medical detoxification services. If detox is needed, we coordinate referrals to appropriate facilities and plan your admission once you are medically stable.

Support for Families and Life After Treatment

Substance use affects more than one person. At OAR Wellness, we offer education on recovery timelines, structured family involvement with the patient's consent, help navigating aftercare, and a written discharge plan. Recovery is more sustainable when the people around you are engaged in the process.

  • Set boundaries without abandoning: How to support recovery without enabling use, how to protect your own well-being while staying connected.
  • Participate in structured sessions: Weekly family meetings (virtual or in-person), education on post-discharge risks, and help navigating what comes next.

Recovery Timeline

How Long Does Recovery Take?

Recovery from addiction is a long-term journey, not a 30-day destination. At OAR Wellness, we are honest about this because realistic expectations lead to sustainable outcomes. Our inpatient program is the starting gate, providing foundation for long-term recovery with the tools, habits, and skills you need to enter the world without being overwhelmed.

We are here to help you get started. The rest is a journey we help you prepare for.

Admissions & Insurance

We work with your insurance provider and offer flexible options, including private pay, EAP coordination, and detailed receipts for reimbursement. OHIP generally covers physician and hospital-based services, while private residential treatment like OAR Wellness involves fee-for-service care with reimbursement where applicable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Addiction Treatment in Ontario

OHIP covers physician and hospital-based services, but wait times through the public system can be as long as 12 months. When you need help, you need it NOW! OAR Wellness is a private, fee-for-service program that provides care when you are ready, not when a waitlist allows. Some extended health benefits may reimburse portions of care. We can help you review what may be eligible.

Detox supports safe stabilization. Inpatient treatment (like OAR Wellness) provides 24/7 structured residential care. Outpatient therapy is offered while living at home. We coordinate detox referrals if needed.

Your care is confidential. We discuss consent and information-sharing at intake.

Typical stays range from 30 to 90 days, but recovery is a long-term journey. We help you start with intensive structure, then transition to aftercare.

We focus on life after treatment from day one, with forward-oriented care, integrated life skills, realistic expectations, and a team with 70+ years of combined experience. We prepare you for sustainable change, not quick fixes.

No, we don't offer detox onsite, but we can coordinate detoxes for you.
